What to Know
Fourteen statewide ballot propositions were presented to voters in the 2026 California general election.
There are two ways props get on the ballot in California. They’re either placed there by state lawmakers or through a petition that requires a certain number of signatures.
Propositions are given numbers starting at 1 and increasing for a span of 10 years. Every 10 years, they restart using numbers from 1 again.
This year’s list includes a one-time wealth tax, voter ID requirements, downpayment assistance for some home buyers and more.
